Bradley Wiggins on-off move to Team Sky has finally been completed. Wiggins has signed a four year contract with the new team. Wiggins is now expected to be the team's leader in the Tour de France assuming Sky are one of those invited.
The transfer had been problematic as Wiggins already had a contract for 2010 with Garmin-Transitions. Garmin boss Jonathan Vaughters had wanted to keep Wiggins but eventually agreed a deal with Sky allowing the transfer to take place.
Team Sky will be Wiggins' seventh team in his professional career. In the past ten years he has ridden for Linda McCartney, La Française des Jeux, Crédit Agricole, Cofidis, Columbia-High Road and Garmin-Slipstream. In that time he has taken 11 victories of which 8 have been in individual time-trials.
