David Millar won the afternoon time-trial in the Driedaagse De Panne today to take the overall victory in the race. Millar had figured prominently in the breaks on the first two days to set himself up with the opportunity against the clock. Millar beat Lieuwe Westra by seconds in the time-trial but more importantly gained 47" and 1'19 from Andriy Grivko and Luca Paolini, respectively, the previous joint leaders.
The victory is Millar's fourth overall stage race win. His previous wins were the Tour de Picardie in 2003, the Circuit de la Sarthe in 2001 and the Post Danmark Rundt also in 2001.
