Ben Swift has won the second stage of the Tour Down Under to give him the most high-profile victory of his career so far. Swift took the win in a sprint finish ahead of Robbie McEwen and Graeme Brown. Swift was originally set to be part of the lead-out for Chris Sutton but he crashed in an incident that also injured Mark Cavendish.
Swift therefore was lead out by Geraint Thomas who himself crashed as the other sprinters rushed past him at the finish. Robbie McEwwn initially got the jump on Swift but it was the Yorkshireman who was strongest and came through to take the win.
