Jonathan Tiernan-Locke has continued his recent good form on stage 1 of the Vuelta a Murcia today. Tiernan-Locke and Nairo Quintana on the final climb of the stage but the Colombian left Tiernan-Locke to do most of the work before jumping clear 1km from the summit. Quintana was able to hold onto his advantage on the descent and took the stage win. Meanwhile Tiernan-locke was caught by Wout Poels and Sergio Pardilla and went on to take third place. The second and final stage is a 12km individual time trial on Sunday.
