Men's Road Race

Cadel Evans has won the World Championship title. Evans attacked his breakaway companions Alexandr Kolobnev and Joaquin Rodriguez on the final climb and powered away to take the win.

The only British riders to finish were Steve Cummings and Roger Hammond in 52nd and 92nd places respectively. Team leader David Millar suffered from a number of mechanical problems and did not have the form to keep with the pace.
