Team Sky has announced the first six riders who will make up their team for 2010. The half-dozen consist of three riders from Barloworld, Steve Cummings, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas. Barloworld has announced that they are withdrawing their sponsorship at the end of the year leaving the riders free to look elsewhere.
Russell Downing has been signed up after impressing recently by winning a stage and the overall of the Tour of Ireland. Ian Stannard has also been in good form recently with multiple attacks in the Tour of Poland in August. The sixth rider announced is Peter Kennaugh who has been riding with the British academy team based in Italy.
