Tatiana Guderzo of Italy has taken a solo victory in the Women's Road Race at the World Championship. Guderzo attacked a leading group of four on the final lap and, despite the efforts of Marianne Vos and Kristin Armstrong, had enough strength to hold on to a comfortable lead.
British rider Emma Pooley had been at the front for much of the day but could go with the final attacks. Team-mate and reigning champion Nicole Cooke pulled out during race after being involved in a crash and suffering at the back of the field.
In the Men's Under 23 race Peter Kennaugh put in a strong performance although he was unable to match Romain Sicard's attack. Kennaugh finished in a good fourth place 49 seconds behind.
